Документ A Corpus-Based Approach to Identifying Top-Level Terms for Developing a Skos Vocabulary for Ukrainian Epigraphy(Гельветика, 2024) Tamrazian Amest Serzhykivna; Тамразян Амест СержиківнаThis study aims to identify and classify top-level terms in Ukrainian epigraphy to develop a SKOS vocabulary and facilitate the categorization, organization, and retrieval of epigraphic inscriptions. This research fills a significant gap in the digital humanities, where Ukrainian epigraphic heritage has been underrepresented. The foundation for describing epigraphic artifacts in Ukrainian academia is the «Corpus of Inscriptions of Saint Sophia Cathedral Kyiv» by V. Korniyenko, which represents a structured format of Ukrainian epigraphic heritage. The study is based on comparative methods and detailed corpus-based linguistic analysis of the contextual application of terms in academic discourse. The use of the "Corpus of Inscriptions of Saint Sophia Cathedral Kyiv" is a justified choice due to its structured format and systematic approach to the description of epigraphic artefacts. An important element of the study is the analysis of the structure and content of Korniyenko’s works for developing a standardized SKOS vocabulary for Ukrainian epigraphic inscriptions. The research proposes a systematic approach to developing a SKOS vocabulary for Ukrainian epigraphy, integrated with existing frameworks such as the EAGLE vocabulary for Greco-Roman artifacts. This is not only a technical step but also a strategic one, ensuring broader applicability and interoperability, allowing Ukrainian inscriptions to be studied alongside those of other cultures. The findings contribute to a more integrated and accessible digital representation of epigraphic heritage, enriching the global digital humanities landscape and ensuring proper attention and scholarly recognition of the rich epigraphic heritage of Ukraine. The importance of digital tools and corpus analysis for the development of digital humanities, particularly digital epigraphy, is emphasized in this study. Developing a comprehensive SKOS vocabulary for Ukrainian epigraphy will enable the integration of these vocabularies with existing frameworks such as the EAGLE vocabulary for Greco-Roman artifacts, ensuring broader applicability and interoperability, allowing Ukrainian inscriptions to be studied alongside those of other cultures and enhancing cross-cultural and cross-linguistic research.Документ Binomials in Legal Texts(Гельветика, 2023) Vladyka Svitlana Anatoliivna; Владика Світлана АнатоліївнаOne of the typical elements of English texts is binomial expressions. They have been among the most marked and durable features of the legal English language. The article deals with the study of the nature of binomials, their definitions and classifications. It is in particular focused on the analysis of binomials in legal texts, their role and importance. A range of existing terms denoting the concept, as well as definitions of the phenomenon are discussed. Given the existing definitions the typical features of binomials are characterized. In particular, any binomial is a combination of two or more words which typically belong to the same category and are joined by a syntactic device (usually “and” or “or”). It is revealed that in legal texts binomials serve several purposes: they are a style marker in the legal language; add accuracy, contribute to precision and unambiguity, promote clarity and facilitate understanding in multicultural society; add weight and stress on the phrase; ensure comprehensiveness that suits the needs of lawyers who want to foresee all possible situations; play a role which neither of its elements does alone. At the same time, it is noticed that quite often binomials overload the text, being a tribute to tradition and serving no specific purpose. From a legal standpoint, every word in a legal text has its meaning. Word strings often have no fixed meaning, sometimes they are not only vague but quite frequently indeterminate. This paper proves that vague wording of a legal text, whether a law, a contract or an international agreement, may cause misunderstanding, require further interpretation, or even result in a dispute. The task of a lawyer is to deliberately select words in drawing up legal texts.Документ Conceptual Space of Islamic Threat Image in Modern English Media Discourse(Видавничий дім «Гельветика», 2024) Dokashenko Tetiana Viktorivna; Докашенко Тетяна ВікторівнаThe article is devoted to the problem of modelling the conceptual space of the Islamic threat image in modern English media discourse. The term «media image» is analysed. The lexemes «threat» and «Islam» are considered, the term «Islamic threat image» is defined. It is observed that the lexeme «threat» has a negative axiology, as it denotes an individual’s subjective assessment of a situation that poses a physical or mental danger. It is revealed that the religion of Islam itself is only a basis for the emergence of a threat, because the ideology of Islamism is based on it, and Islamism is the basis for almost all terrorists and terrorist groups that pose a direct threat to world society. The concept of a frame and its structure (subframes, slots, subslots) are defined in the article. The method of frame analysis is used in order to model the conceptual space of the Islamic threat image. The Islamic threat image is analysed in detail. The Islamic threat image is presented in the form of an integrative frame, which includes a subject-centric frame and an action frame. We propose frame model of the conceptual space of the Islamic threat image. The model of the analysed image is a set of subframes, six of which are singled out during the research: Islamic threat agent (with slots who and what); Islamic threat object agent (with slots who and what); Islamic threat aim; tools of Islamic threat; those who oppose to Islamic threat; the result of Islamic threat. Each subframe is analyzed in detail, examples are given from researched articles in the most famous and prestigious British online publications, such as Reuters, The Guardian, International Business Times. It is found that the Islamic threat image is multi-component. It is necessary to consider all its possible components to understand its essence.Документ Creative Neologisms in English Language Chick Lit: Form-Based, Meaning-Based Creativity and Their Functions(2026) Bielova Maryna Oleksandrivna; Бєлова Марина Олександрівнаneologism, lexical creativity, form, meaning, function, literary discourse, English language chick lit This article explores creative neologisms in English language chick lit, focusing on form-based and meaning-based creativity that co-evolve in their production, and the functions they perform in this genre of fiction. The study draws on a corpus of 35 English language chick lit novels, which returned a total of 141 neologisms. The research applies a combined morphological, semantic, and linguo-cognitive approach, with a focus on metaphorical and metonymical mechanisms underlying lexical innovation. The analysis demonstrates that neologisms in English language chick lit emerge through various word-formation processes, including compounding, blending, affixation, and clipping which are adapted and subverted to produce different types of form-based creativity. From a semantic perspective, many neologisms rely on conceptual metaphor and metonymy, enabling authors to produce a range of types of meaning-based creativity. These are grounded in creative uses of metaphor and metonymy to convey complex emotions, social evaluations, and personal experiences in a compact and vivid manner. Functionally, creative neologisms serve multiple purposes within the genre. They enhance humour and irony, reinforce intimacy between narrator and reader, and contribute to the construction of a distinctive female narrative voice. Moreover, such lexical innovations reflect contemporary cultural values, consumer practices, and gender-related discourses, thus positioning English language chick lit as a socially meaningful literary form rather than merely light entertainment. The findings indicate that neologisms in English language chick lit are not accidental stylistic embellishments but systematic tools of meaning-making and identity construction. By integrating linguistic creativity with narrative strategy, authors shape readers’ perceptions of characters and social realities. The article concludes that English language chick lit represents a productive domain for the study of modern lexical innovation and its interaction with literary and cultural processesДокумент Dark’ Matters in Framing Axiological Patterns: from Pie to Old English(2026) Kalytiuk Liliia Petrivna; Калитюк Лілія ПетрівнаThis article offers an axiological and etymological investigation of the conceptualization of “dark” in Old English literary monuments. This study argues that the concept serves as a fundamental, life-defining pillar of Old English worldview, rooted in Proto- Indo-European (PIE) etymons. The analysis is grounded in three primary PIE roots: *regwos- (darkness as a spatial location), *temh- (darkness as a state of stasis or petrification), and *dher- (darkness as qualitative impurity). These roots provide the semantic framework for the subsequent analysis of heroic, elegiac, and homiletic texts. In the heroic epic Beowulf, darkness is analyzed as a tangible, monstrous threat where, the “dark” frame is synonymous with active malice and social disintegration, embodied by the sceadugenga (shadow-stalker) who encroaches upon the sunlit hall. The study then examines the internalization of darkness in The Battle of Maldon and The Seafarer. In these works, the “dark” frame is manifested through hostile terrain and visual darkness where environmental suffering becomes a precursor to spiritual trial. The final stage of the study focuses on the homilies of Ælfric of Eynsham. The author reveals a radical reshaping of the axiological axis: from a horizontal heroic frontier to a strict Christian verticality. Ælfric’s texts display a lexical asymmetry – where “light” lexemes dominate while “dark” ones are fragmented into notions of paganism, sorcery, and the demonic – fully moralizing the qualitative “impurity” of the PIE root *dher-. The article concludes that in the homiletic tradition, darkness is no longer merely an environmental condition but an internal state of ontological degradation. The study proves that the “dark” frame, though lexically sporadic in some contexts, remains the silent axis upon which the transition from heroic to Christian morality was constructedДокумент English International Economic Law Discourse: Its Multidimensional Analysis(Видавничий дім «Гельветика», 2025) Butko Oleksandra Artemivna; Бутко Олександра АртемівнаThis paper is dedicated to International Economic Law Discourse. By now only one critical discourse analysis work covering this matter exists. Thus, there are no corpus-based researches concerning this type of discourse. At the same time the previous works in corpus-based discourse analysis were taken into account. All these researches study different types of discourse: diplomatic, media, academic, Biblical. This work is a corpus-based research pertaining to the discourse quantitative analysis. The author compares International Economic Law Discourse with press reviews and academic prose. In particular, multidimensional analysis tool, MAT (Nini, 2019), created according to D. Biber’s works (Biber, 1988; Biber, 1989; Biber, 2001) was used in this work to indicate main grammar and stylistic peculiarities of the International Economic Law Discourse in English as this corpus tool operates only with one target language. Furthermore, ANOVA test (Analysis of Variance) was used to interpret the MD analysis results. As a result of this research, we can distinguish such basic grammatical and syntactic peculiarities of IEL discourse: common use of Present tense; second person pronouns, pro-verb do and subordinator that deletion omission; abundance of nominalisations; lack of adverbs; overwhelming use of modal verbs, especially predictive ones (will, would, shall) with a priority for shall; prepositional phrases prevalence; insignificant number of such syntactic constructions as that relative clauses on subject position, WH relative clauses on subject position, existential there; a high level of certainty to be understandable for all Member States representatives who are not, as a rule, English native speakers.Документ Ethnolinguistic Variations of English in the Greater Toronto Area(2026) Bondarenko Victor Oleksandrovych; Бондаренко Віктор Олександрович; Davydova Tetiana Vasylivna; Давидова Тетяна Василівна; Kapranov Yan Vasylovych; Капранов Ян ВасильовичThe article explores how English in Toronto, while grounded in Canadian English norms, is shaped by intense multilingual and multicultural contacts. The Greater Toronto Area functions as a linguistic contact zone where English interacts with numerous heritage languages, producing variation that reflects social, ethnic, generational and linguistic identities. Drawing on sociolinguistic theory and previous research, the study emphasizes that language in this context serves both as a communicative tool and as a marker of belonging, solidarity and social positioning. Methodologically, the research employs a combination of corpus analysis, sociolinguistic interviews, quantitative measures, ethnographic observation and comparative studies to capture patterns across vocabulary, grammar and phonology. The findings indicate that lexical, grammatical and phonological features are not random but systematic, socially stratified and closely tied to identity construction within peer networks and urban communities. The study highlights how national linguistic norms coexist with innovations driven by language contact and social practice, particularly among younger speakers. Phonological and grammatical adaptations, along with shared informal vocabulary, demonstrate that linguistic variation functions to negotiate social relationships, establish urban identity and facilitate interaction in a multicultural environment, proving the dynamics of the contacting languages. Overall, the article presents the Greater Toronto Area as a model for understanding how language evolves under sustained contact, showing that national varieties can maintain structural stability while accommodating complex patterns of innovation, hybridization and social meaning in a diverse urban settingДокумент Evaluative Adjectives and Gendered Identity Construction in Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre: a Corpus-Based Stylistic Analysis(2025) Bohdanova Mariia; Богданова МаріяThis corpus-based stylistic study examines evaluative adjectives as mechanisms of gendered identity construction in Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre (1847). Employing Appraisal Theory within a Systemic Functional Linguistics framework, the research systematically codes 71 evaluative adjectives across three characterisation perspectives: Jane’s self-descriptions (26 instances), Jane’s portrayals of Rochester (34 cases), and Rochester’s characterisations of Jane (11 instances). Quantitative analysis reveals striking gendered asymmetries in polarity distribution: Jane’s self-characterisation demonstrates 61% negative valence dominated by physical descriptors (“plain”, “poor”, “little”, “obscure”), while Rochester’s evaluation employs 73% positive adjectives emphasising aesthetic idealisation. The study identifies a systematic compensation mechanism wherein Jane concedes physical inadequacy while asserting moral superiority (“soul”, “heart”, “independent”), enabling resistance to Victorian beauty ideology without direct ideological transgression. Jane constructs Rochester as an Аnti-romantic hero through negative formulations (“not handsome”, “neither tall nor graceful”) that paradoxically establish masculine authority, revealing how identical linguistic structures carry asymmetric gendered meanings. The research demonstrates that evaluative language functions as an ideological negotiation site rather than mere reflection: Bronte creates a narrative voice simultaneously embedded in and resistant to Victorian gender constraints, revealing linguistic agency within structural limitations. Methodologically, the study advances literary linguistics by demonstrating that corpus-based approaches productively illuminate individual literary texts through mixed-methods synthesis of quantitative pattern identification and qualitative contextual interpretation, providing empirical grounding for feminist literary criticism. АнотаціяДокумент Interaktywne technologie w nauce polskiej literatury na przykładzie opowiadań Zofii Nałkowskiej „Medaliony”(2026) Manko Ruslana; Манко Руслана; Manko Ilona; Манко ІлонаThe article explores the role of interactive technologies in the development of students’ competences in foreign literature classes, based on Zofia Nałkowska’s short story cycle “Medallions”. It is emphasized that the modern school, oriented toward fostering critical thinking and emotional competence, including emotional intelligence, requires active teaching methods that ensure interaction between the student, the text, the author, and the cultural context. Interactive approaches are viewed as a means of transforming a traditional lesson into a dynamic space for the co-construction of meaning, enhancing reading motivation and empathy. The study employs a комплекс of methods, including cultural, pedagogical, and descriptive analysis, content analysis of texts, as well as observation of the educational process during teaching practice. It is determined that interactive forms of work – group discussions, role-playing activities, and project-based tasks – activate cognitive engagement, contribute to the development of communicative and critical skills, stimulate students’ intrinsic motivation, and foster the ability to argue and defend their own viewpoints. The findings show that the use of interactive technologies in teaching “Medallions” allows not only for a deeper understanding of the literary text and its socio-historical context, but also for grasping the emotional logic of the characters. Role-playing and projectbased tasks promote the development of empathy and moral reflection, while group discussions help students recognize the diversity of perspectives and develop their own critical judgments. Practical recommendations for teachers include combining text analysis, discussions, and creative projects to ensure the comprehensive development of students’ reading and emotional competences. It is demonstrated that interactive learning in literature integrates pedagogical, psychological, and cultural-value dimensions, ensuring the effectiveness of the educational process and forming active, thoughtful, and responsible readers. Prospective directions include further research on comprehensive models of interactive learning, comparative analysis of foreign and Ukrainian experiences, and evaluation of the impact of interactive practices on the development of students’ key competenciesДокумент Linguistic Aspect of Intercultural Conflict Communication(Гельветика, 2023) Harbera Iryna Volodymyrivna; Гарбера Ірина ВолодимирівнаThe article reveals the linguistic aspect of intercultural conflict communication with the help of a specially prepared linguistic experiment on “Interlingual homonyms” (conducted with English- and Ukrainian-speaking students of Vasyl’ Stus Donetsk National University), as well as through scientific observation (interesting conflict-generating communication situations during the educational process, the subject of which was the contradictory use of certain morphological forms and phraseological units, were identified). Intercultural communication is positioned as a process of verbal and non-verbal communication between people belonging to different national and cultural communities. Conflict in intercultural communication (i.e., intercultural conflict communication) is presented as a cultural phenomenon, the content of which is determined by cultural factors, and the process of emergence and development of conflicts is regulated by cultural norms, which under certain circumstances lead to the emergence of special cultural rituals that affect the process of conflict interaction between participants. The analysis of the linguistic aspect of intercultural conflict communication is to identify verbal and non-verbal markers of cultural information in order to achieve communicative interaction between representatives of different cultures and prevent the emergence of communicative conflicts. Specific examples demonstrate that intercultural conflict communication can be realized at several linguistic levels: lexical, phraseological, morphological, and syntactic. It is proved that the most effective way to regulate intercultural conflict communication is to develop intercultural communication competence in its real and potential participants as the ability to adequately use culturally significant language tools, concepts and behavioral stereotypes.Документ Metaphors in the Modern American Therapeutic Discourse in their Practical Application(Гельветика, 2023) Bahatska Olena Viktorivna; Багацька Олена Вікторівна; Dvorianova Alina Oleksandrivna; Дворянова Аліна ОлександрівнаThe article explores the use of metaphors and stylistic figures in contemporary American therapeutic discourse, emphasizing their significant role in facilitating communication and understanding in counselling sessions. The narrative nature of therapy and the need for the therapist to be able to effectively decipher and rewrite the clients' harmful narratives are determined. Evidence is presented that contemporary American therapeutic narratives, replete with metaphors and stylistic figures, promote adequate expression of complex emotions and experiences, prevent defence mechanisms, and encourage mutual understanding. The major cognitive processes related to the understanding of metaphors in modern American therapeutic discourse and the advantages of their usage in therapy are considered, since metaphors themselves can help overcome emotional barriers, reveal the unconscious and express complex ideas succinctly and accessibly. In the article we analyse the mechanism of effective use of metaphors for obtaining meaningful information from interlocutors and achieving greater awareness of what they said, that is based on a four-stage model of metaphor application, which includes activation, deployment, synthesis and transformation, exemplifying it by the family therapy session conducted by a modern American psychotherapist Stephen Madigan. In particular, the expediency of DISTANCE, JOURNEY, BLINDNESS metaphors usage in the modern American therapeutic discourse for the study of difficulties and problems in relationships, as well as the correction of one's own views and awareness of difficulties, has been clarified. Overall, the article explores the cornerstones of metaphor application in contemporary American therapeutic discourse, whereas the case study provides a practical demonstration of how contemporary psychotherapists can use metaphors to facilitate meaningful conversations and help clients reframe their narratives and perspectives.Документ Morphological Structure of English Advertising Texts for Tonic Drinks: A Comparative Quantitative Study(Видавничий дім «Гельветика», 2025) Nohovska Svitlana Hryhorivna; Ноговська Світлана ГригорівнаThis article explores the morphological level of English-language advertising texts for tonic drinks and their translations into Ukrainian, using a corpus-based approach. A research parallel corpus has been built, with structural and part-of-speech tagging applied. The frequency of parts of speech with high style-distinguishing potential has been determined. A linguistic and statistical comparative analysis has been then conducted between the original and translated subcorpora. It was justified the significant discrepancy between the general quantitative characteristics of English-language and Ukrainian-language advertising texts can be attributed to translation strategies such as localization and transcreation. It can be concluded that only partial quantitative equivalence between the source and target text is based on the general corpus indicators. The morphological analysis of selected advertising texts for tonic drinks has revealed significant differences in the usage of parts of speech in both the texts (word usage) and the dictionary registers (lemmas). In both the source text and the target text, the highest frequency of usage has been observed for nouns, which is related to the function of nomination. There has been a predominance of action verbs, extensive use of adjectives and adverbs with positive evaluative semantics, and the use of pronouns, which facilitates the task of the personification of the address. Predominance of nouns, which contributes to a nominal style characterized by a static, descriptive nature and an objective lexical background. This high degree of nominality is preserved in the target text. It can be argued that the construction of the advertising message employs an informative strategy aimed at a broad audience. This strategy seeks to influence the recipient through the provision of information and appeals to their interests, as the informativeness of the advertisement is often the primary reason consumers engage with it.Документ Semantic Aspects of Maritime Terminology(Видавничий дім «Гельветика», 2024) Ohiienko Maryna Dmytrivna; Огієнко Марина ДмитрівнаThe ways of development of the English language are closely connected with the history, traditions, and way of life of the people of the country of this language. The formation of the English language was significantly influenced by important historical events that took place in the British Isles. The peculiarities of the geographical location, the country's economy, and the political situation required an increase in the military and commercial power of England on the seas, which led to the need for the development of England as a maritime state. In the 17th century, shipbuilding and navigation began to develop rapidly. Since that time, maritime terminology began to play one of the most important roles in the life of the country. This work is devoted to the study of the structural and semantic features of English marine terms. The concept of “term” as a way of expressing special knowledge is considered. The semantic features of marine terms in English are analyzed. An analysis of the lexi calsemantic field in English-language maritime terminology was carried out. The concepts of semantics were examined and the main features of the semantics of the term were analyzed. During the analysis, the following features were identified: the connection between the semantics of the term and the concept, the connection between the terminological and commonly used meanings of the word, as well as the dual systemic nature of the term. The purpose of the presented research is to study the structural and semantic characteristics of the English maritime terminology system. The following tasks follow from the set goals: 1) to distinguish between the concepts of “terminology” and «terminosystem»; 2) to consider existing classifications and determine the composition of the main thematic groups of the English maritime terminolgy system; 3) to outline the word-formation features of English maritime terminology and systematize words related to maritime topics concerning the most productive methods of word formation. The object of study is English maritime terminological units, expressions, figures of speech related to shipbuilding and navigation. The subject of the study is the structural and semantic aspects of English maritime terminology.Документ Social and Socio-Linguistic Aspects of Adaptation of Ukrainian War Refugees in Canada(Видавничий дім «Гельветика», 2024) Bondarenko Victor Oleksandrovych; Davydova Tetiana Vasylivna; Бондаренко Віктор Олександрович; Давидова Тетяна ВасилівнаThe article outlines up-to-date social and sociolinguistic aspects of adaptation of Ukrainian war refugees in Canada. With the beginning of the military aggression and the invasion of Russian invaders into the territory of Ukraine, a large part of the local population left their homes and went to other countries. The process of adaptation and socialization of newly arrived Ukrainians is the subject of study not only of sociology, but also of psychology, sociolinguistics and other related disciplines. In our research, we make an attempt to describe the general conditions, realities and socialization trends of different age groups of Ukrainian war refugees who found refuge in Canada. Our special attention is being paid to the processes of interaction between the English and Ukrainian languages from the point of view of their coexistence and mutual influence in various spheres of socio-cultural communication. As a result of the conducted research, we conclude that the processes of mutual influence of the two languages in various spheres of communication are inevitable, since the socialization of the newly arrived Ukrainians takes place in an immediate contact with speakers of English both on the everyday level and during cooperation in professional spheres. In addition, there is a mutual influence of the two languages on each other: the Ukrainians are forced to master at least basic spoken English, since a full-fledged life in an English-speaking environment is impossible without it, while the Canadians, mostly representatives of the previous waves of Ukrainian immigration, and not only, being in close contact with Ukrainian-speaking participants in the communication process, feel the significant influence of the Ukrainian language, especially in the field of professional cooperation. From the point of view of social aspects of the newly arrived Ukrainians’ adaptation, the following should be noted: psychological support of the war victims, creation of the necessary conditions for their involvement in new communities for full communication and life as well as provision of all necessary social guarantees, which is a basic condition for their well-being and full socialization in the new society.Документ Speech Acts of Control in English Dominant Parental Discourse(2023) Kozlova Viktoriia Viktorivna; Козлова Вікторія ВікторівнаThe paper deals with typology, functioning and verbal representation of speech acts of control in English dominant parental discourse. The concept of speech acts of control has been clarified then directive of order, directive of demand, directive of prohibition and directive of warning types have been singled out. The analysis of linguistic forms of directive of order, directive of demand, directive of prohibition and directive of warning utilized by parents in dominant communication has been carried out. The analysis of the control speech acts by levels of directness in dominant parental discourse reveals the prevalence of direct mode stipulated by parental higher social position and authority. It was found out that linguistic forms of directives of order are affirmative imperative constructions and negative imperative constructions, lexico-grammatical level of directives of order are represented by imperative sentences comprising verbs that call for action completion or denote action cessation. It was revealed that when conveying categorical requirements, impolite and even disrespectful attitude, directives of order include negative-evaluative adjectives, obscene words. Linguistic expression of directives of demand are affirmative utterances containing volitional verbs. Directives of prohibition in dominant parental discourse are represented by affirmative constructions with verbs naming ban and disallowance. The category of modality is also employed for verbal representation of the directive of prohibition. The directives of warning are represented by imperative and affirmative constructions with modal verbs of obligation, negative imperative constructions and affirmative constructions with prohibitive nomination, negative constructions of egocentric character. The analysis of the lexical and syntactic means that comprise speech acts of control makes it possible to single out structural models containing addressing. This paper aims to compensate for the lacunae that are currently present in the field of English dominant parental discourse study in terms of speech act representation.Документ Terminology of the Educational Tourism Sphere in the English and the German Languages: Lexic-Semantic and Structural Peculiarities(2026) Shevchenko Maryna Yuriivna; Шевченко Марина Юріївна; Siechka Svitlana Volodymyrivna; Сєчка Світлана ВолодимирівнаThe article considers the terms of English and German in the field of educational tourism. The authors determine the structural and semantic features of English-language and German-language terms in the field of educational tourism. The term is a means of nominating a professional concept of the relevant field, and its terminology is represented by a set of similar units. English-language terms in the field of tourism are heterogeneous in structure. They are represented by single-component and multi-component units. Single-component terms are nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. Multi-component units prevail over single-component ones. The most common in tourism terminology are two- and three-component word combinations, which are formed according to the structural models noun + noun, adjective + noun, Participle I + noun, Participle II + noun, numeral + noun, noun + noun + noun and adjective + noun + noun. The terminology also includes abbreviations formed by shortening individual words or all words of multi-component terms, as well as their parts or individual letters. The English-language terminology of the tourism industry is characterized by the heterogeneity of its semantic composition: it includes not only terms directly related to tourism activities, but also borrowings from economics, law, information technologies, transport, sports, medicine and other areas. This is explained by the specifics of the tourism industry itself and a wide range of concepts that relate not only to it, but also to related areas of human activity. A similar situation is observed in German tourism terminology. Here too, two- and three-component word combinations prevail, which are often combined into compound nouns, for example Studentenaustauschprogramm (student exchange program), Sprachlernreise (language trip), dozentengeleiteter Workshop (lecturer-led workshop). German terminology actively uses abbreviations, such as DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) or FSJ (Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr), which are formed by shortening the initial letters or syllables of words. Like English, German tourism terminology borrows units from other fields, in particular economics, law, medicine and education, which allows for the accurate transmission of the content of complex concepts and processes in the field of tourism. In this regard, the English-language terminology of the tourism industry is a complex, multifaceted systemic and structural formation, actualized by lexical and semantic microfields, the units of which are means of designating types of tourism and travel; features and locations of tourists; types of transport that ensure their delivery and transportation; types of recreation and entertainment for tourists; equipment for tourists; inventory of tourists; food for tourists; subjects of the industry; processes occurring in it; its tariffs and payments; documents; types of tourist companies and organizations; seasonal features of tourism; diseases associated with travel. Some of the specified lexical-semantic fields are divided into smaller lexical-semantic groups. The development of German terminology in the field of tourism is of great importance for future scholars of philology and pedagogical practitioners, since global tourism is closely related to For international speakers, knowledge of specialized vocabulary helps you to effectively navigate any situation: from booking tickets and hotel rooms to participation in excursions the rise of non-transferable problems while traveling around the world, while participating in scientific conferences and exchange programs in Germany.Документ The Influence of Gender Factor on the Speech Behaviorof Communicants(2023) Буренко Тетяна Миколаївна; Burenko Tetiana MykolaivnaThe article is devoted to the analysis of the influence of gender factor on the speech behavior of communicants. With the emergence of gender linguistics, the range of scientific interests in linguistics is significantly expanding. Stereotypes of femininity and masculinity, gender asymmetries, as well as peculiarities of speech and communication behavior of men and women are studied in more detail. In our research we are guided by the fact that gender is a general scientific category that explains the behavior of men and women based on biological sex and in relation to the social and cultural norms of a particular society. The main method of research is contrastive analysis, which makes it possible to compare and distinguish the differential features of male and female speech. The study of communicative behavior is carried out on the basis of discourse analysis. The heuristic method which involves the collection of previously recorded research material is also applied. The research material is the works of the modern English authors M. Dunn “Ex-Girlfriends United”and J. Kaplan “The Men I Didn’t Marry”. The analysis of the characteristics of male and female speech behavior makes it possible to conclude that there are generally accepted typical characteristics of the speech behavior of men and women in every society based on moral and ethical norms, as well as cultural characteristics. They can vary depending on a number of other factors other than biological features: mental composition, character, profession, role in society, status, type of temperament, etc. Since society imposes certain rules and standards of behavior of men and women on individuals, it is necessary to be aware of these features and take them into account in the process of communication.Документ The Linguistic Framework of Multicultural London English(Видавничий дім «Гельветика», 2025) Bondarenko Victor Oleksandrovych; Sokolova Iryna Valentynivna; Kapranov Yan Vasylovych; Бондаренко Віктор Олександрович; Соколова Ірина Валентинівна; Капранов Ян ВасильовичThe article focuses on the linguistic framework of Multicultural London English (MLE) – an evolving variety of English that has emerged in the multicultural context of London and other British urban communities, particularly among young people from diverse ethnic backgrounds. Its appearance, spread, and development reflect the complex social and cultural mosaic of London and some other cities, determined by the processes of immigration and globalization. MLE is viewed as a blending of linguistic features loaned from some British dialects (London’s Cockney and Estuary) and different ethnic communities, including Caribbean, African, South Asian, and European influences. There is an attempt to identify the true origin of MLE and connect it with the general tendencies of the English language transformations in the modern world. We managed to trace the roots of MLE to the post-World War II period when massive waves of immigration from former British colonies brought together speakers from a variety of linguistic backgrounds. The immigrants interacted with each other and with the local English-speaking population, inducing the creation of a new form of speech. Our special attention in the research is paid to the fact that MLE is not simply a hybrid language but a dynamic dialect, or even a sociolect, that continues to evolve. Its influence is spreading across the city and some urban communities, with some features becoming generally accepted in Standard British English, while it is most commonly spoken by young Londoners in working-class areas. MLE is not only the manifestation of the linguistic diversity of its speakers, but it also expresses their identity in a multicultural speaking environment. The rise of MLE has aroused numerous debates about linguistic and social integration in the context of its coexistence with Standard British English. However, its continued evolution demonstrates the dynamic nature of language in urban communities illustrating how they assimilate and adapt linguistic practices to reflect their diverse social realities.Документ The Use of Digital Tools in Teaching a Foreign Language to Future Professionals in Information and Educational Technologies(Видавничий дім «Гельветика», 2025) Danylyuk Serhiy Semenovych; Данилюк Сергій СеменовичThis study offers a deep analysis of the use of digital tools in teaching foreign languages to students majoring in information and educational technologies. The research covers both the theoretical base and practical uses of platforms like Google Classroom Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Kahoot for blended and fully online learning environments. Conducted as a qualitative practitioner inquiry over three academic semesters, the study monitors how these digital tools affect learner engagement, motivation, language competence, and digital literacy development. It will pinpoint to what extent blended learning models can support effective learner autonomy with individualized pacing and real-world communication skills. This typology was built taking into account a number of the following criteria: 1) according to the addresser orientation; 2) according to the functioning in various spheres of communication; 3) according to the type of presentation; 4) according to the primary/secondary source of information; 5) according to the pragmatic orientation. Within each criterion, appropriate types of English electronic texts of linguists’ personal web pages are distinguished. According to the addresser orientation, there are collective and individual English electronic texts of linguists’ personal web pages. On the other hand, English electronic texts of linguists’ personal web pages are scientific and information-and- reference texts based on their functioning in various spheres of communication. Consequently, according to the type of presentation, English electronic texts of linguists’ personal web pages are divided into narrative texts, reflection texts, and definition texts. In their turn, according to the primary/secondary source of information, English electronic texts of linguists’ personal web pages can be both primary and secondary texts. Finally, according to the pragmatic orientation, English electronic texts of linguists’ personal web pages are divided into texts aimed at informing, texts aimed at ascertaining and polemical-and-hypothetical texts. It is noted that the texts aimed at ascertaining are represented by such subtypes as texts stating the theoretical propositions of the scientific research and texts stating the results of experiments. Accordingly, polemical-and-hypothetical texts are divided into hypothetical and discussive-and-polemical texts.
