У тезах розглядаються особливості фоносемантичного компонента описів пейзажів у романі Ф. Г. Барнетт «Таємний сад». Мета дослідження — виявити специфіку фоносемантичного компонента описів пейзажів в англійській художній літературі. У ході аналізу фоносемантичної організації описів пейзажів було встановлено, що основними лінгвістичними засобами звукового зображення є ономатопея та звуковий символізм. Ці лінгвістичні явища представлені в описах пейзажів одиницями лексичного (зоофони) та сегментного (голосні, приголосні, фонестеми) рівнів, які передають звуки та певні характеристики об’єктів живої та неживої природи. Ці одиниці асоціюються з різноманітними емоційними станами, що виникають під час сприйняття описів пейзажів.
The present paper dwells upon the peculiarities of the phonosemantic component of landscape descriptions in F.H. Barnett's novel “The Secret Garden”. The purpose of the study is to establish the specifics of the phonosemantic component of landscape descriptions in English fiction. In the course of analyzing the phonosemantic organization of landscape descriptions, it was established that the main sound-imaging linguistic means are onomatopoeia and sound symbolism. These linguistic phenomena are represented in landscape descriptions by units of lexical (zoophones) and segmental (vowels, consonants, phonesthemes) levels that convey the sounds and certain characteristics of objects of animated and inanimate nature. These units are associated with diverse emotional states that arise during the perception of landscape descriptions.
