The article explores the integration of mathematics and English language teaching in upper secondary school through cultural connections within the framework of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL). The relevance of integrated learning is considered in the context of contemporary challenges of Ukrainian education, including wartime conditions, emotional instability of learners, and the transition to profile secondary education. The study emphasizes the importance of culturally responsive teaching and modern neuropsychological research, which show that incorporating cultural contexts into mathematics learning enhances cognitive flexibility, creativity, emotional resilience and reduces mathematical anxiety. The integration of mathematics and English is presented as an effective way to develop analytical thinking, communication skills and students’ motivation. The article proposes practical cases for integrated lessons in Grade 11 during preparation for the National Multi-Subject Test (NMT). Suggested activities include discussions of films about famous mathematicians, analysis of mathematical references in English-language media and integrated lessons devoted to Lewis Carroll as a mathematician, logician and writer. Particular attention is given to Carroll’s word game “Doublets” and logical paradoxes from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland as tools for developing critical thinking, logical reasoning and language competence. The research witnesses that culturally oriented integrated lessons based on CLIL and neuropsychological approaches can improve learning outcomes and support the development of mathematical and communicative competences in secondary school students.
