Анотація
У статті досліджено структурно-смислові трансформації сучасних американських казок-перевертнів. Особливу увагу приділено спектру нових функцій персонажів, які уможливлюють набуття ними нового статусу в художньому світі досліджуваних казок.
The article focuses on the analysis of the structural and semantic transformations of the modern American retoldfairy tales. Special attention is drawn to the spectrum of the new personages ’functions that enable them to attain the new status in thefictional world, ofthefairy tales studied. Having researched the spectrum of the personages ’functions available in the modern American retoldfairy tales, we make the conclusion about their qualitative and quantitative changes. Thus, the set of the personages ’ actions is broadened with new functions, the boarders between the sets turn to be more diluted, the personages that perform actions acquire independence, their actions grow more unpredictable which testifies to the transformation of their psychological profile. The role of a Hero is mainly performed, in thefairy tales studied by human beings (80%), children or teenagers, the periphery comprises mythical creatures (12%) and animals (8%). The role of an Antagonist is also mainly performed, by human beings (66%), mythical creatures (25%) and animals (9%). In most cases, the Antagonists turn to be the Hero’s relatives - sisters, brothers, stepsisters, a stepmother and witches. The Heroes and Antagonists as the main participants of thefairy tales conflict are human beings or at least look like human beings (witches, dwarfs, giants). They are sure to be the most complicated and the brightestpersonages who experience a deeppsychological crisis. The taboo on passions overcome in thefairy tales studied makes them free from psychological inertia which ena¬bles characters to become three-dimensional. The basis of the contemporaryAmerican retoldfairy tales serves to be psychology and diversity of the characters ’inner world. The conflicts gravitate from the outer domain to the inner one. All the descriptions are incorporated into thepersonages ’psychology.
