Анотація
У статті віддзеркалено досвід організації науково-методичної роботи кафедри іноземних мов політехнічного університету в площині опанування викладачами нових європейських цінностей, упровадження ідей іншомовної та полікультурної освіти. Висвітлено специфіку методичних заходів, які розкривають нові функції викладача іноземної мови як взірця педагогічного спілкування й міжкультурної комунікації. З огляду на пріоритети сучасної європейської мовної політики та перспективи подальшого розвитку іншомовної освіти розкрито провідні вимоги до професіоналізму особистості й діяльності викладача іноземної мови політехнічного університету. У контексті сучасних концептуальних підходів обґрунтовано специфіку ролі викладача іноземної мови як організатора міжкультурної комунікації та менеджера іншомовної освіти у вищій школі.
In this article we have attempted to reflect the experience gained and related to organization of scientific-methodological work at the Chair of Foreign Languages of a polytechnic university in the sphere of mastering by teachers of the new European values with the aim of implementation of concepts of the foreign language education as well as the multi-cultural education. The essence of the methodological means which are believed to help reveal new functions of a teacher being treated as an example of the pedagogical discourse and inter-cultural communication, and also the provider of the knowledge pertaining to a foreign language and culture, as determined by the priorities stipulated by the European Language Policies, - have been elucidated therein. The leading requirements set forth for gaining proficiency by foreign language teachers at polytechnic universities in the context of contemporary conceptual approaches, in particular, that one of the organizers of pedagogical interaction and inter-cultural communication and manager of foreign language education - have also been revealed. The professional aptitudes of a foreign language teacher as the organizer of foreign language education at a polytechnic university, an expert and communicator of cultural data and also the moderator of the cultural values and merits, - have been substantiated in this article. In addition, we have clarified that the competence-related framework of the model of pedagogical professionalism of a foreign language teacher tends to include the following aspects: - mastering the concepts and peculiarities of the lingua-didactics at the level of professional discourse which tends to envisage the capability of setting an objective, selection and substantiation of an education strategy and adequate means and techniques; - professional skills pertaining to the elaboration and creation of the relevant study materials, their integration into the process of the students' activity which are deemed necessary and sufficient for the social interaction; compilation of the study materials which enable selection, combination and utilization of the authentic texts and also modification of discourse and communicative units which comprise the didactic and communicative purposes; - professional managerial skills pertaining to the educational activity displayed in the following formats: teacher-student, student-student, student-study material; the utilization of the complex of respective cognitive, organizational and managerial activities; - lingua-cognitive skills that help single out the speech units, their features as the objects of students' attention in the process of text-studying activity and the socio-cultural interaction; - skills of mediator and moderator of the socio-cultural data received (the capability of utilization of the cultural facts gained, exposure of the cultural message conveyed; singling out the socio-cultural indicators from the authentic texts studied and their utilization with the aim of teaching a foreign language and culture; implementation of certain pragmatic goals related to the typology of speech acts and intentions; - capability of organization of the social interaction under conditions set forth by the “artificial bilingual environment”, formation and updating of cognitive and communicative strategies as affected by miscellaneous conditions of teaching foreign languages; - creative and reflexive skills which are related to carrying out analysis, planning and elaboration of the process of teaching a foreign language of the professional scope as well as organization of an individual pedagogical and scientific-methodological activity.
