У статті порушується питання розвитку професійної компетентності майбутніх фахівців морської галузі. Зазначається, що у зв’язку із сучасними метаморфозами в Україні велика відповідальність за повоєнне відновлення країни покладається на провідні галузі народного господарства, зокрема й морську галузь. У цьому контексті акцентується на необхідності формування професійної компетентності фахівців управління судновими технічними системами і комплексами. Проаналізовані погляди вітчизняних науковців щодо визначення дефініції «професійна компетентність» та надане власне бачення ключового поняття дослідження.
The article raises the question of the development of professional competence of future specialists in the maritime industry. It is noted that in connection with the modern transformations in Ukraine, the major responsibility for the post‐war recovery of the country rests on the leading sectors of the national economy, including the maritime sector. In this context, emphasis is placed on the need to develop the professional competence of specialists in the management of ship technical systems and complexes. It has been found that competency‐based education has three stages of its formation: Stage I ‐ 1960s ‐ 1970s, Stage II ‐ 1970s ‐ 1990s, Stage III ‐ mid‐90s of the XX century. ‐ the present day. The competent approach to professional training of future specialists in domestic institutions of higher education has been widely used relatively recently and arouses considerable interest among domestic scientists. The analysis and systematization of scientists' works regarding the key definition of our research allowed us to single out several areas of interpretation of the concept of "professional competence": emphasis is placed on culture, which is a system‐forming element and the goal of the entire professional training of a future specialist, and professional competence is its basic component, which contributes to the formation of a specialist of high culture; pedagogical and professional competence is interpreted through the formation of an activity component, that is, a future specialist acquires professionalism in the process of professional activity; the specified competence is considered from a psychological point of view as a personal characteristic of a specialist; it is proposed to consider the key definition as a personality quality that allows a specialist to directly perform professional tasks and manage and evaluate his own activity; the following direction suggests understanding the specified concept through the level of education of a specialist, that is, taking into account the level of professional education, experience, individual abilities of a person, his desire for continuous education, self‐improvement, etc. The analyzed views of domestic scientists regarding the definition of "professional competence" provided an opportunity to interpret the key concept of the study in their own interpretation.
