The relevance of this research is driven by the rapid digitalization of financial markets, global integration, and the growing influence of non-fundamental factors (information asymmetries, behavioral biases, automated trading) that amplify speculative processes and threaten market stability. The purpose of the article is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the «speculative virus» phenomenon, to reveal the features of its emergence and spread, and to determine its impact on the stability and functioning of financial markets. The methodological basis includes theoretical generalization, systematic analysis, synthesis, causal analysis, and tabular methods for structuring risk factors and counteraction mechanisms. The results characterize the speculative virus as a complex process formed under the influence of non-fundamental factors, manifested through the distortion of market signals, disruption of price formation, and accumulation of financial imbalances. It is shown that information asymmetry, the speed of financial news dissemination, investors’ behavioral reactions, and automated trading algorithms play a key role in triggering the virus. The propagation follows a chain-reaction principle, affecting stock, commodity, and cryptocurrency markets, leading to price bubbles, increased volatility, reduced predictability, and, in the long term, lower investment activity and trust in financial institutions. The factors that amplify speculative processes are systematized (macroeconomic conditions, digital transformation of financial infrastructure, institutional regulatory constraints). A comprehensive set of counteraction mechanisms is proposed, integrating regulatory, institutional, informational, behavioral, technological, macroeconomic, and socio-economic instruments. The practical value of the study lies in the possibility for financial regulators, market participants, and policy makers to apply the proposed risk-oriented approach and the system of counteraction mechanisms to reduce speculative destabilization, enhance market transparency, improve supervisory instruments, and ensure long-term financial stability in the contemporary digital economy.
