Стаття присвячена проблемам значення і функціонування власних назв у гаслах травневих протестів 1968 року у Франції. Семантика оніма розглядається у межах семантики кожного конкретного гасла та більш широкого контексту. Окрім типової ідентифікаційної функції, аналізується цілий ряд інших. Так, ідеться про алюзійну роль імені, участь у творенні звукової тканини гасла. Онімна гра підкреслює елемент гри, типовий для постмодерної епохи, у яку відбувалися згадані події.
The article is devoted to the problems of proper names meaning and functioning in the slogans of protests of May 1968 in France. We try to follow the division of proper names into groups according to the type of object they name, though, thematic division is not less important, because May 1968 was not purely political event, so we treat slogans with theonyms as well as with anthroponyms, toponyms, ergonyms, etc. Onym semantics is regarded within semantics of each slogan and in the wider context as well. Besides the typical function of identification, a range of the other ones is analyzed. The article deals with proper names serving as allusions and with the ones serving to create the phonetic structure of a slogan. Onym game highlights the element of game, typical to the postmodern period, in which the mentioned events took place. Proper name, interacting with other components of a phrase, produces a completely new meaning of the old slogan, aphoristic expression or other text; it becomes an element of parody. Many onyms are included in periphrastic constructions or are such a construction themselves. Entering the slogan, proper name ‒ even the most emotionally neutral ‒ serves to indicate the attitude of the speaker to the mentioned event, person, place.
