dc.description.abstractThe article reveals the main positions of educational-methodological complex of the discipline «Theory and methods of music education» in the context of the development of musical competence of future teachers of preschool institutions. Among the existing methods, which should master a future specialist in preschool pedagogy, a special position is occupied by those based on the use of musical art. Musical competencies mean a set of interrelated basic musical knowledge, ability to evaluate the phenomena of musical art, skills of elementary music playing, which through positive attitude to musical activity will allow the future teacher to be competent in performing his/her professional duties. The teaching of the course «Theory and methods of music education» is aimed at improving the quality of preparing bachelors of preschool education for professional work. Objectives of the training course are outlined: acquisition of systematic knowledge in the field of the theory of voice training and speech technique; getting information about therapeutic, prophylactic possibilities of music during its perception, singing, musical-rhythmic and musical playing activities; study of fundamental principles of popular music education theories (E. Jaques-Dalcroze, K. Orff, Z. Kodaly, D. B. Kabalevsky, V. M. Verhovynets). The article highlights the content of the lecture course and its practical part, the peculiarities of the students’ musical competencies diagnostic are revealed.uk_UA
