Пошук інформації проводився в наукометричних базах даних Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar, Research Gate, а її опрацювання здійснювалося з використанням методів аналізу, синтезу, порівняння та узагальнення якісних даних. Розкрито сутність поняття «професійна компетентність офіцерів поліції до профілактики правопорушень неповнолітніх», що означає складний феномен, що передбачає наявність професійно-особистісних якостей, професійних знань, умінь і навичок, що допомагають співробітнику ОВС ефективно здійснювати профілактику правопорушень неповнолітніх. Складовими компонентами означеної компетентності визначено мотиваційно-ціннісний, когнітивнодіяльнісний і особистісно-рефлексивний.The purpose of the article is to reveal the essential characteristics of the “juvenile police officer’s professional competence for the prevention of juvenile delinquency”. The article is aimed to determine its structural components and indicators. While defining the research problem there were used methods of analysis and synthesis, comparison and generalization, theoretical methods related to the study of management in scientific pedagogical and management literature, periodicals. The search for information was carried out in the Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar, and Research Gate scientific databases. It was established that professional competence is based on the ratio of interrelated motives, value orientations, and theoretical knowledge. It is also grounded on practical abilities and skills, personal characteristics, professional qualities and reflection. It is revealed the essence of the concept of “police officers’ professional competence to prevent juvenile delinquency”. This concept means a complex phenomenon that involves the presence of professional and personal qualities, professional knowledge, abilities and skills. The above mentioned characteristics help an employee of the police to effectively prevent juvenile delinquency. The constituent components of the defined competence are determined as motivational-value, cognitive-active and personal-reflective. The indicators of the motivational and value component are recognized as the presence of value orientations towards the police officer’s profession, towards the juvenile delinquencies’ prevention; availability of motivation to carry out preventive measures with juvenile offenders. Indicators of the cognitive-activity component are the completeness, systematicity and thoroughness of the knowledge necessary for the implementation of preventive activities with juvenile offenders; availability of a set of special preventive skills.
