Важливе місце у розвитку пізнавальної активності дітей з вадами інтелекту відіграє рубрика «Цікаво знати», яка доповнює цікавою інформацією основний матеріал підручника. Підручник містить різнорівневі завдання та запитання, що враховують пізнавальні можливості дітей цієї категорії. Мова підручника доступна і зрозуміла, обсяг навчальних текстів з кожної теми невеликий і побудований за принципом від простого до більш складного. Навчальний матеріал рукопису висвітлений у хронологічній послідовності.
