На підставі підходів критичної теорії до осмислення глобальнихпроблем людства проаналізовано вплив глобалізації на процес інтернаціоналізації вищої освіти в Східноазійському регіоні та виявлено національні особливості освітньої політики і практики щодо інтеграції міжкультурного компоненту в організацію та зміст підготовки висококваліфікованих фахівців для глобального й регіонального ринку праці.The article is devoted to the identification and characterisation of key trends in the internationalisation of higher education in East Asian countries (China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan) in the global, regional and national dimensions. The research methods are represented by a set of interrelated general and specific scientific methods, in particular: bibliographic and terminological analysis, synthesis, systematisation, generalisation, which were used to comprehensively study the scientific literature in the field of higher education and identify the peculiarities of its internationalisation in the East Asian region and formulate conclusions; comparative analysis, which allowed to identify similarities and differences in the development of higher education in China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan in the context of globalisation. Based on the approaches of critical theory to understanding global problems of mankind, the impact of globalisation on the process of internationalisation of higher education in the East Asian region is analysed and national peculiarities of educational policy and practice in terms of integrating the intercultural component into the organisation and content of training highly qualified specialists for the global and regional labour market are identified. It has been found that one of the main trends of globalisation related to the reform and restructuring of higher education systems is the intention to strengthen competitiveness at the global level. The impact of globalisation is forcing many HEIs in East Asia to follow global practices and ideologies without developing their own unique systems and without respecting the rich traditions and cultures of their countries. The internationalisation of higher education emphasises international mobility and trans‐ regional development. With shared cultural characteristics and historical traditions, regional cooperation in higher education research is gaining importance, and thus trans‐regional cooperation is the future of internationalisation of higher education in the East Asian region. It is revealed that the internationalisation of higher education contributes not only to the creation of economically competitive and politically powerful states, but also to the development of internationalised educational content, in which the desire to promote global citizenship, social harmony and global peace is of primary importance.
