Доведено, що Сумська область є однією з областей України, яка подарувала світові найбільшу кількість відомих кобзарів. Зазначено, що Сумщина зробила вагомий внесок у справу збагачення народного й академічного мистецтва, завдяки діяльності славетних кобзарів: М. Олексієнка, С. Пасюги, Г. Кожушка, Є. Мовчана, Є. Адамцевича, Г. Петренка, Д. Терещенка, Д. Циганенка, В. Жидченка, Г. Іванченка, В. Заворотька та багатьох інших. Автор стверджує, що в наш час кобзарське мистецтво зазнало докорінних соціальних змін, стало складовою частиною народних масових свят, перейшло на професійні сценічні майданчики. Усе більше міцніє зв’язок кобзарського мистецтва з професійною музикою та літературою.Kobzar art belongs to the unique phenomena in the world culture. For centuries it played an important social role because it was closely connected with the liberation struggle of the Ukrainian people. Kobzars were the singers and advisers of their fellow citizens, conducted cultural-educational activity. The purpose of this article is to define the peculiarities of development of the Kobzar art in Sumy region and highlight cultural-educational activity of Kobzars of the region in the past century. Based on the analysis of archival sources, the author argues that in Sumy region, long before our era, began a long process of interaction of the ancient folk traditions with new artists with kobzar professionalism, largely associated with professional musical (and later verbal-artistic) art, with school in the truest sense of this word. Such a connection of separate kobzars with professional art began from the activity of court chapels, and especially Hlukhiv music school (mid 18th century). Research of peculiarities of development of the Kobzar art gave the author the opportunity to conclude that Sumy region is one of the regions of Ukraine, which gave the world a large number of well-known kobzars. Sumy has made a significant contribution to the enrichment of folk and academic art, thanks to the work of famous kobzars: M. Alekseienko, S. Pasiuh, H. Kozhushko, E. Movchan, E. Adamtsevich, H. Petrenko, D. Tereshchenko, D. Tsyhanenko, V. Zhydchenko, H. Ivanchenko, V. Zavorotko and many others. Nowadays Kobzar art has undergone radical social changes, it became part of the folk mass celebrations, moved on to the professional stage. Increasingly growing is a relationship of Kobzar art with professional music and literature. Therefore, the type of modern Kobzar-bandurist is gradually changing. This process is clearly visible throughout the territory of Ukraine, including Sumy.
