Визначено сутність поняття «національна ідея» Китаю, яка вже тривалий час перебуває в центрі підвищеної уваги науковців. З’ясовано, що включення елементів патріотичного виховання в сучасний навчальний процес є обов’язковим. Доведено, що патріотичне виховання сприяє зміцненню китайського суспільства, духовному зростанню кожного громадянина КНР та є основною складовою духовної культури нації та водночас є вимогою до виховання нових людей – цілеспрямованих, високоморальних, культурних та дисциплінованих.In this article the author tries to address a research question on what effects Chinese patriotic education has on national spirit of China. Guided by the research question, this article particularly looks at the impacts of patriotic education in People’s Republic of China. By reviewing the existing literature on Chinese national idea, the author identified that national spirit and patriotism are main parts of it. For many Chinese, patriotism is essentially identical with socialism because building socialism with Chinese characteristics has been officially justified as a common task for all Chinese and is the main theme of patriotism in today’s China. A theme of «national idea» in People’s Republic of China is in center of enhanceable attention. The content of Chinese patriotic education is wide-ranging with Chinese tradition and history and national unity and territorial integrity. The functions, or the goals of patriotic education mainly cover the following aspects: 1) patriotic education contributes to the maintenance of territorial integrity, national unity, and national pride; 2) patriotic education is a vehicle for transmissing knowledge and appropriate attitudes about international relation; 3) patriotic education fulfills a function of maintaining the socialist system and state legitimacy; patriotic education performs a progressive function, encouraging contributions to China’s program of development and modernization. Chinese youth is taken the focus of patriotic education, and is targeted by television, movies, music, dramas, arts and stories which use rich and vivid imagery to provide patriotic education to young people. Patriotic education is instrumental in strengthening of Chinese society, spiritual growth of every citizen of People’s Republic of China, is the basic component of spiritual culture of nation and at the same time is a requirement for education of new people – purposeful, moral, cultural and disciplined. The features of patriotic education of young people in China are providing the personality oriented approach to students and using different organizational forms and teaching methods.
