Мета роботи – дослідити лінгвопрагматичні характеристики форми imparfait du subjonctif у французьких джерелах різних стилів, визначити актуальне ставлення до них жителів Франції за допомогою соціолінгвістичних підходів, а також перспективи її розвитку та функціонування в писемному й усному мовленні. Досягнення поставленої мети передбачає розв’язання таких завдань: продемонструвати результати критичного аналізу наукової літератури, присвяченої актуальним аспектам у використанні форми imparfait du subjonctif у французькій мові; дослідити вживання imparfait du subjonctif у різних стилях мовлення, зокрема художньому, публіцистичному, офіційно-діловому, науковому та розмовному; пояснити динаміку вживання форми imparfait du subjonctif у мовленні різних стилів; оцінити ставлення носіїв французької мови до вживання imparfait du subjonctif у мовленні. У процесі дослідження встановлено, що імперфект кон’юнктива в сучасній французькій мові зазнає певного відродження, його використання тепер умотивовується не лише літературною традицією, але й цілою низкою відтінків значення, які він може мати залежно від комунікативної ситуації. Ставлення жителів Франції до цієї форми доволі прихильне навіть попри все-таки незначну її поширеність у розмовному мовленні.The presented research work is devoted to the study of the current state of use of the temporal form of the verb imparfait du subjonctif in French on the basis of sociolinguistic tools. The aim of the work is to study the linguopragmatic characteristics of the form imparfait du subjonctif in French sources of different styles, to determine the current attitude of French people to them through sociolinguistic approaches, as well as prospects for its development and functioning in written and oral speech. Achieving this goal involves solving the following tasks: to demonstrate the results of critical analysis of the scientific literature on current aspects in the use of the form imparfait du subjonctif in French; to explore the use of imparfait du subjonctif in various styles of speech, including artistic, journalistic, official, scientific and conversational; to explain the dynamics of the use of the form imparfait du subjonctif in speech of different styles; to evaluate the attitude of French speakers to the use of imparfait du subjonctif in speech. We found that the conjunctive imperfect in modern French is experiencing a resurgence, its use is now motivated not only by the literary tradition, but also by a number of shades of meaning that it may have depending on the communicative situation.
