Особливості перекладу соціолекту кокні

Abstract

Статтю присвячено вивченнню лінгвокультурних характеристик соціолекту кокні та розкриттю перекладацьких прийомів, які могли б найефективніше передати його соціолінгвістичні та експресивні риси. Описані особливості вимови, відхилення від лексико-граматичних норм літературного стандарту та римований сленг кокні. Розглянуто перекладацькі труднощі при відтворенні соціолектного мовлення представників нижчих прошарків Лондона. Простежено особливості перекладу фонетичних, граматичних та лексичних відхилень від літературної мови, притаманних кокні, та прийоми їх передачі в українській мові. Наведено погляди мовознавців у контексті цього проблемного питання.

The article deals with the linguistic and cultural traits of Cockney as a sociolect and focuses on the translation techniques that prove the most efficient in getting across its social and expressive features. There have been outlined pronunciation peculiarities, deviations from lexical and grammatical norms of Standard English as well as rhyming slang. Translation difficulties have also been tackled that might arise while rendering the speech variety of the lower classes in London. Aspects of translation of phonetic, grammatic and lexical deviations from the norm, that are inherent in Cockney, have been traced out as well as their delivery into Ukrainian. Some views of linguists on the subject have been drawn in.
